I recently Applied for a job in this big company website and I was really surprised, How a big name in the Market operates with such UI in their website?
Thus, as an eager and passionate Designer, I was triggered to redesign the job portal to enhance the user experience, in this case (Me).
To be honest, When I saw the UI of the website for the first time, I was not motivated as a user and job seeker to complete the process, but I did it anyway.
As a junior UX/UI Designer it represent me a Challenge to enhance the UI aspect of the website by putting myself in the shoes of the designer who create it.
Every challenge represents a new experience and as a junior designer, this challenge provides me with new insights in new industry realm, taking into account its restrictions and opportunities.
The redesign of the career page provided invaluable insights into the intricate balance between user needs and business objectives. Here are the key takeaways:
The project underscored the critical need to prioritize accessibility from the outset. Incorporating accessibility features not only broadens the potential user base but also ensures compliance with global standards. This proactive approach helps avoid later modifications which can be costly and time-consuming.
Refining error messages and notifications was a lesson in the subtle art of communication within digital interfaces. Well-crafted messages can transform user confusion into clarity and keep users on track during their application process, significantly improving the overall user experience.
The addition of features such as the ability to download, print, and modify applications taught me the value of designing flexible systems that cater to varied user behaviours and needs. This flexibility resulted in a more accommodating platform, encouraging greater interaction and engagement from applicants.
Throughout the project, it became evident that UI and UX are deeply interconnected, with each element influencing the overall user experience. Effective visual design (UI) supported and enhanced the usability and functionality (UX), proving that both disciplines need to work in harmony to create an optimal user interface.
In conclusion, the redesign of the career page into JERMANIK was more than just a facelift; it was a deep dive into understanding and implementing UX and UI principles in a way that serves both users and business needs effectively.
